Dr. Coffman completed her undergraduate degree at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia. She then completed both her MD and MPH in a combined, 4-year program at Tulane University in New Orleans, Louisiana. The focus of Dr. Coffman's MPH studies was Health Systems Management.
Dr. Coffman completed a residency in psychiatry with an integrated intern year at Tulane University. She served as Chief Resident in her final year of residency. She returned to Emory University to finish her post-graduate training with a fellowship in forensic psychiatry.
After completing her training, Dr. Coffman joined the faculty at Emory University, where she treated patients and taught for about 5 years before leaving for private practice. She is currently an adjunct assistant professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at Emory University and continues to supervise and teach forensic psychiatry fellows.
