On January 13, 2013, Alyssa was arrested. She was unconscious when police officers carried her into a cell. Police should know alcohol intoxication can cause death. The officers did not have Alyssa evaluated and when an officer checked on her later that night, she had died of alcohol poisoning. Her life could have been saved by prompt medical treatment. Video from the station documented the actions of the police officers. Alyssa’s only heir at law was her estranged husband who was incarcerated when the incident took place.

NYPD officer chased 18 yr. old down to his apartment, shot and killed him in front of grandmother and little brother. Survived by parents, grandmother, younger brother.

Two men shot, one of them killed, by police investigating a stolen bicycle; one of the men, the bicycle theft victim, saw the police stopping his friends on their bikes and tried to tell police they had stopped the wrong men; police opened fire on them; police body cameras confirmed that victims were unarmed; decedent survived by parents.

Police severely beat 37 yr. old schizophrenic, homeless man after he failed to comply with commands, died a few days later. Survived by parents; officers charged but not convicted.

Death of 17 y. o. boy, who was shot 16x by a single officer while he was said to be carrying a knife. Survived by mother; appears to have settled prior to lawsuit. Murder charges against officer pending.

Shooting death of 38 y. o., schizophrenic, homeless man, after being found camping on public lands in Albuquerque, survived by brother. Officers currently on trial for 2nd degree murder.

Deputies shot unarmed passenger getting out of car after high speed pursuit; deputies saw him reach for his waistband; survived by wife and two minor daughters.

Officer raped 24 y.o. woman he pulled over for a traffic stop; officer convicted for the rape.

25 y.o. arrested, placed in back of a police van, w/o seatbelt; neck was broken during the ride, leading to coma and death. Survived by parents. Settled prior to filing lawsuit. Officers acquitted.

50 y. o. man ran from officer after a traffic stop; officer shot him 8 times, killing him. Survived by four children; settled prior to filing lawsuit. Officer currently facing murder charges.
