Peterson v. County of Santa Clara

Kristy Gough, aged 30, killed in March 2008 while cycling with Matt Peterson when sheriff's deputy fell asleep at the wheel.

Accident resulted in three separate settlements:

• $800,000 settlement with Gough's father - see here;
• $1.2M settlement with Gough's mother - see here;
• $2.3M settlement with Peterson's family.
