Regarding Location and the Los Angeles Fires

NPAP decided in 2024 to hold our Spring 2025 CLE in Los Angeles on April 24th and 25th. After consulting with some of our Southern California members, we have made the decision to move the conference to nearby Long Beach. Our goal is to ensure that we're making the event accessible to our LA-based members, while avoiding diverting resources away from communities impacted by the fires.

We are offering a 20% registration discount to all LA-based residents that are interested in attending, and we also plan to organize a group opportunity to volunteer in support of recovery efforts. We hope you can make it to Long Beach in April.

ABOUT THE EVENT

In 2025, effective civil rights lawyers will be more important than ever. As the Trump administration rolls out its anti-civil rights agenda, NPAP will be hosting a two-day CLE focusing on litigation and advocacy tactics to fight and win against government oppression. The event will include panels focused on how to successfully sue federal law enforcement agents, emergency litigation to enjoin civil rights abuses, NPAP’s history fighting police violence, and advocacy outside of the courtroom to protect our clients. Any person practicing civil rights law in 2025 should attend this conference.

Panels topics include:

  • Federal Tort Claims Act (FTCA) and Bivens
  • Emergency Lawyering: The Ethics and Logistics of filing TROs and Preliminary Injunctions
  • Reflections on 25 Years of NPAP’s work
  • Public Interest Intersections Occuring in Trump’s 1st Quarter
  • Policy Solutions and Legislation to Protect Our Clients

A link to the full agenda will be shared here soon.

ACCREDITATION

This event has been accredited for 9.50 CLE credit hours, including the below subfield credits:

  • 1 hour of Ethics

NPAP is a Multiple Activity Provider (MAP) with the State Bar of California, and as such this event is automatically accredited in CA.

Most attendees should be able to self-report for CLE credit to their own state bars, and in instances where a state bar requires that the event sponsor report on behalf of attendees, NPAP is happy to assist.

If you have any questions about accreditation, please email Re'Neisha at assistant.npap@nlg.org.

RECORDING

The event will be recorded in its entirety and recordings of each panel will be available to attendees after the event. However, attendees will only be elligible for CLE credit for the portions of the event that they attended live, either in-person or virtually. Retroactive viewing of recordings will not be elligible for CLE credit, as NPAP does not have a means of validating attendee participation in this circumstance.

FINANCIAL SUPPORT

NPAP never wants cost to be a barrier to attendance for our programming and we are happy to work with anyone interested in attending to find a means to make the program accessible. If you require financial support, please contact Re'Neisha at assistant.npap@nlg.org for assistance.

ACCESSIBILITY

It is our priority to ensure accessibility for all attendees - please contact Jane at operations.npap@nlg.org if you have specific inquiries regarding physical accessibilty of the venue or virtual experience.
