ABOUT THE EVENT

If you have or expect to take on a case on behalf of an incarcerated client with mental health needs, you should join this CLE. Dr. Joel Dvoskin will provide an overview of the latest studies on the effects of solitary confinement, including some that may surprise you. Dr. Dvoskin will also use his experience as a federal monitor and former forensic hospital director on how to craft injunctive remedies that prevent future harm. Join Dr. Dvoskin for new ideas and inspiration to help your incarcerated clients.

ABOUT THE SPEAKER

Dr. Joel A. Dvoskin is a clinical and forensic psychologist, licensed in Arizona and certified in Forensic Psychology by the American Board of Professional Psychology.

He is the former Acting Commissioner of Mental Health for the State of NY, after serving for more than a decade as Associate Commissioner and Director for Forensic Services for the NY State Office of Mental Health. He served as Chair of the Governor’s Advisory Council on Behavior Health and Wellness for the State of Nevada.

Dr. Dvoskin is a Fellow of the American Psychological Association (APA), and Past President of two APA Divisions, including the American Psychology-Law Society (Division 41) and Psychologists in Public Service (Division 18). He served on the APA Policy Task Force on Reducing Gun Violence, and on the APA Blue Ribbon Commission on Ethics Processes. Currently, he serves on APA’s Amicus Curie Committee Expert Panel.


ACCREDITATION

This event is accredited for 1.5 general credit hours with the State Bar of California (NPAP is a multiple activity provider with the State Bar of CA).

Most attendees should be able to self-report for CLE credit to their own state bars, and in instances where a state bar requires that the event sponsor report on behalf of attendees, NPAP is happy to assist.


RECORDING

The event will be recorded and the recording will be available to attendees after the event. However, attendees will only be elligible for CLE credit for the portions of the event that they attended live. Retroactive viewing of recordings will not be elligible for CLE credit, as NPAP does not have a means of validating attendee participation in this circumstance.
