DOJ Consent Decree Town Hall

EVENT DESCRIPTION

The Trump administration has ordered the United States Department of Justice’s (DOJ) Civil Rights Division to stop the majority of its activities, including investigations and enforcement efforts against police departments, jails, and prisons accused of or engaged in civil rights abuses. Ohio Families Unite for Political Action and Change (OFUPAC) and the National Police Accountability Project (NPAP) are hosting a town hall to help Ohio communities understand what the Trump administration's edict means for police accountability in their state. Topics include the status of the DOJ consent decree in Cleveland, prospects for consent decrees and investigations going forward, and what communities can do to hold law enforcement agencies accountable in the absence of DOJ oversight. Speakers include Ohio police reform advocates, former DOJ Civil Rights Division attorneys, and NPAP civil rights attorneys.
