Please join us in honoring Michael Avery’s tremendous contributions to NPAP and to police misconduct law with a donation to the Avery Award endowment fund. This newly established annual award recognizes significant contributions to NPAP or police accountability law by a NPAP member attorney with less than five years experience practicing law.
Michael Avery co-founded NPAP in 1999 and served as its first board president. He has represented clients involved in some of the most consequential civil rights issues of the last several decades, including representing victims of police brutality, activists, and the wrongfully convicted. Michael has argued before the Supreme Court, mentored the next generation of advocates as a law professor at Suffolk University School of Law, and is an expert on a range of legal and political topics. He is co-author of Police Misconduct: Law and Litigation, the leading treatise on police misconduct law.
The first presentation of the Avery Award will be in Spring 2025.
Thank you so much for your contribution to encourage and support exceptional new attorneys joining the fight for police accountability!
